Rush hour traffic congestion has been reported on Highway 401 near Highway 8 in Cambridge following a three-vehicle collision, leading authorities to advise the public to steer clear of the affected area. Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Sgt. Kerry Schmidt disclosed that all eastbound lanes on that stretch of Highway 401 have been shut down.
In a video shared on X, Schmidt mentioned, “Three vehicles were part of the collision, with a dump truck overturning… substantial cleanup operations will be necessary.” Emergency services transported two individuals to the hospital, one with minor injuries and the other with more severe injuries.
Schmidt also noted that the cleanup process is anticipated to last several hours.
