New Brunswick RCMP are currently investigating the death of a man whose body was discovered in a residence located outside of Moncton as a homicide case. The victim has been identified as Michael Eric Claude Steeves, according to police reports on Wednesday.
Authorities were initially alerted to a potential sudden death incident at a residence on Route 910 in Shenstone at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 4. Shenstone is a rural community close to Hillsborough, situated about 30 kilometers south of Moncton. Upon their arrival, law enforcement officers found the deceased body of a 57-year-old man within the residence.
An updated news release provided no details on the cause of Steeves’ death or the reasons behind the suspicion of foul play by the police. It also did not disclose whether Steeves resided in the Shenstone property.
The RCMP is seeking to interview a male driver who reportedly stopped to converse with an individual walking on Route 910 in the Shenstone and Hillsborough regions. Additionally, authorities are interested in speaking with a woman who may have offered transportation to someone either on Route 910 between Shenstone and Hillsborough or on Main Street in Hillsborough during the overnight period between Aug. 2 and Aug. 3.
Furthermore, the RCMP has urged anyone present in the vicinity at the time of the incident or possessing information related to the alleged homicide to come forward and assist the investigation.
