The Toronto Blue Jays have brought back right-handed pitcher Spencer Arrighetti after he recovered from a right foot nerve irritation called Morton’s neuroma, which had kept him out since July 25. Arrighetti was acquired in a trade with the Houston Astros for outfielder Daulton Varsho just before the MLB trade deadline.
Additionally, utility player Davis Schneider has been recalled from the Blue Jays’ triple-A affiliate in Buffalo, NY. Both Arrighetti and Schneider were in the lineup for the game against the New York Yankees.
In corresponding roster moves, left-handed pitcher Brendan Cellucci was sent down to the triple-A team, while infielder Josh Smith was sidelined with left hamstring inflammation and placed on the Blue Jays’ 10-day injured list.
