“Wife Beheader Found Dead in Prison Cell”

A man who beheaded his wife shortly after their wedding has been discovered deceased in prison.

Jared James Dicus, 24, confessed to killing his wife, Anggy Diaz, 21, in a gruesome manner during his 2024 trial. He received a 40-year prison sentence, becoming eligible for parole in 2043.

Dicus and Anggy tied the knot in October 2022, causing concern among friends who had observed issues in their relationship. In January of the next year, Anggy’s mutilated body was found in the couple’s home shower, alongside the murder weapon.

Dicus was discovered hanging in his cell at the Wainwright Unit in Houston County, Texas, as reported by KLTV. Despite efforts by prison staff to save him, emergency medical services pronounced him dead just before 11pm.

The gruesome discovery of Anggy’s remains was made by Dicus’ father, who lived on the same property as the couple. Dicus’ parents alerted authorities about a potential death on their property, leading to the grim findings in a cabin behind their residence, 60 miles outside Houston.

Anggy was found in a pool of blood with stab wounds, while her decapitated head was found in the shower. Before his arrest, Dicus was captured on surveillance footage stealing and consuming beer from a local market where Anggy worked.

A close friend of Anggy disclosed to The New York Post in 2023 that Dicus displayed signs of insecurity about their marriage, mentioning a social media post where he claimed ownership of her abruptly.

The friend last saw Anggy at a Christmas party before her tragic demise, noting Dicus’ unusual behavior at the event, suggesting underlying issues in their relationship.

Despite no explicit signs of trouble, suspicions of domestic violence arose, with the friend speculating Anggy concealed any problems due to embarrassment.

Following Anggy’s death, Sheriff Troy Guidry mentioned prior disturbance calls involving the couple, but nothing foreshadowed the extreme violence of her murder.

Anggy had dreams of starting a family, but her friend advised against rushing into pregnancy after marrying Dicus. Statistics from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reveal a concerning rate of intimate partner violence-related homicides.

According to the information provided, a significant portion of female homicide victims fall prey to current or former intimate partners.
