“Asda Introduces Lower Prices on 2,300+ Items, Offers 10% Cashback on Fresh Produce”

Asda has introduced a new pricing strategy offering lower prices on over 2,300 everyday items compared to Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Morrisons loyalty card prices. The reduced prices apply to various categories such as fresh meat, fresh produce, chilled, core grocery, and bakery products.

Additionally, Asda is running a special promotion in January where customers will receive 10% back in Asda Rewards Cashpot on all fresh produce purchases made in-store. Rachel Eyre, Chief Customer Officer at Asda, emphasized the initiative’s aim to support families in managing post-Christmas budget constraints by providing competitive prices without the requirement of a loyalty card.

In contrast, recent data from analysts Worldpanel revealed a decline in Asda’s market share to 11.4% during the 12-week period ending December 28. Asda experienced a 4.2% decrease in sales, marking its 22nd consecutive month of decline. Meanwhile, competitors like Tesco and Sainsbury’s saw a growth in customer base, further solidifying their position ahead of Asda in the supermarket industry.

Moreover, Tesco recently announced its commitment to maintaining low prices on 3,000 branded products as part of the new Everyday Low Prices campaign. This move is expected to enhance Tesco’s appeal to consumers seeking affordable shopping options.
