“Private Aircraft Crashes in Western Alaska: 8 Onboard”

A private aircraft carrying eight individuals crashed on Thursday in the vicinity of a remote radar installation in western Alaska, as per a federal official’s statement. Clint Johnson, the head of the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board’s Alaska division, mentioned that the aircraft had two pilots and six passengers, with their current condition not immediately known.

The flight originated from Anchorage and was suspected to have gone down early on Thursday afternoon while approaching Cape Newenham. Johnson emphasized that the information available at the moment is preliminary.

Following a report of an “aircraft incident” close to the Cape Newenham Long Range Radar Site, the Alaska Rescue Coordination Center initiated a search and rescue operation. They indicated that more details would be disclosed as they were obtained and refrained from providing further details in response to inquiries.
