Authorities are in the process of verifying the identity of a man whose body was discovered in a wooded area close to Debert, N.S., in the previous month.
The RCMP were alerted to the human remains on July 22. Subsequently, law enforcement officers retrieved the remains and ascertained that the deceased individual was a man.
Law enforcement officials are collaborating with the provincial medical examiner to establish the man’s identity and the circumstances surrounding his death.
While acknowledging the involvement of criminality in the man’s demise, the police did not disclose further specifics and refrained from commenting on the likely timeframe when the remains were left.
Authorities have indicated that there is no perceived danger to the public.
RCMP Cpl. Mandy Edwards informed CBC News that exhaustive searches and neighborhood inquiries have been conducted in the vicinity as part of the investigation.
The police are urging anyone with relevant information to reach out to them.
“It might be information that seems inconsequential, something minor,” stated Edwards.
“If there is any knowledge regarding the incident or any suspicious activities occurring before or on July 22, we urge you to report that information to the police.”
