Three security personnel at a nightclub in downtown Winnipeg are facing charges of assault following an incident that left a Winnipeg Sea Bears player with serious injuries, according to authorities. The player, Teddy Allen, was hospitalized after being attacked at the nightclub during the early hours of August 3, as reported by the Canadian Elite Basketball League team. The individuals, aged 35, 37, and 58, who were employed at the venue, were taken into custody and charged with assault causing bodily harm. They were subsequently released on undertakings, as per a police news release issued on Thursday. Although the specific nightclub was not disclosed, police indicated it was situated on Main Street, between Portage and William avenues.
After undergoing medical evaluations and receiving a diagnosis, Allen is currently recuperating at his residence, as confirmed in a statement released by the team. Allen expressed that the assault was unwarranted and should not have occurred to anyone under any circumstances.
