“Fatal Truck Collision Engulfs Vehicles in Flames on Trans-Canada Highway”

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police reported a fatal collision involving two commercial transport trucks on the Trans-Canada Highway in central Newfoundland. The incident occurred near Gullbridge, also known as Gull Pond Bridge, between Badger and South Brook. Police were notified of the crash just after 2:15 a.m. NT on Tuesday. Upon arrival, both vehicles were engulfed in flames.

Tragically, the 47-year-old male driver of the eastbound vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the westbound tractor trailer sustained severe injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, where they remain under care. The police response led to the closure of a section of the Trans-Canada Highway between Badger and South Brook for several hours.

Authorities have initiated an investigation into the cause of the collision, which is still ongoing.
