The Montreal Roses made a significant decision to relieve their first-ever head coach, Robert Rositoiu, from his duties a day after being knocked out of the W Canadian Championship. Marinette Pichon, the club’s sporting director, expressed gratitude towards Rositoiu for establishing the foundation of the women’s soccer team. The club emphasized that parting ways with Rositoiu was a difficult but necessary step to bring a fresh perspective for the rest of the season and the club’s growth.
Currently positioned second in the Northern Super League (NSL) with 27 points, the Roses have 10 games remaining in the regular season. Rositoiu took on the role of head coach in September 2024 in preparation for the team’s debut season in the NSL in 2025.
To fill the coaching void, Maryse Bard-Martel, the team’s former assistant coach and head of goalkeeping, will act as the interim head coach. Bard-Martel will lead the team in their upcoming match against AFC Toronto while the club searches for a permanent replacement for Rositoiu.
