“Missing Pilot Found Deceased in Submerged Plane”

A missing pilot, who disappeared on Friday, was tragically found deceased when search teams located his small plane submerged in Wolfe Lake in the Kawartha Lakes area, as reported by the Ontario Provincial Police. The recovery operation, conducted on Monday, retrieved aircraft debris, while the actual submerged plane was located on Tuesday. Authorities have confirmed the unfortunate demise of the pilot and are now arranging for the plane’s retrieval.

The pilot, identified as David, aged 73, was reported missing when he failed to return to Oshawa Executive Airport after departing at 8:30 a.m. with an expected return time of 9:30 a.m. According to Durham Regional Police, his last known location was near Kirkfield in the Balsam Lake vicinity. Family members raised the alarm when he did not return as scheduled.

Numerous agencies, including the Trenton Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, the Ontario Provincial Police, and the City of Kawartha Lakes detachment, collaborated in the extensive search efforts. The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources was instrumental in locating both the pilot and the aircraft.

The Ontario Provincial Police expressed their heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the pilot and appreciated the public’s support during the search operation. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is now investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
