Marvel Studios made a big announcement at Comic-Con International, introducing David Jonsson as the new Black Panther, who will be portraying the son of T’Challa, previously played by Chadwick Boseman. Additionally, it was revealed that Ryan Gosling is set to star as Ghost Rider in upcoming films scheduled for release in 2028.
During the presentation, Jonsson, who has appeared in productions like “Industry” and “The Long Walk,” expressed his gratitude for joining the Marvel family. The much-anticipated “Black Panther III” is slated for release on December 15, 2028.
Following Boseman’s passing in 2020 and the revelation of T’Challa’s son in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” fans have been speculating about the successor to the iconic role, with names like Damson Idris and Letitia Wright being considered.
Ryan Gosling is set to collaborate with director Shawn Levy on the film “Ghost Rider.” Gosling expressed his long-time desire to play the character, revealing his excitement at finally bringing the iconic character to life within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Marvel Studios also announced that “Avengers: Endgame” will be re-released in theaters with new footage linking it to the upcoming film “Avengers: Doomsday,” directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. The trailer for “Doomsday” teased a connection between characters like Victor Von Doom, portrayed by Robert Downey Jr., and Reed Richards, played by Pedro Pascal.
The star-studded panel also featured appearances from a range of actors including Letitia Wright, Chris Evans, and Hayley Atwell, among others. Additionally, Ryan Reynolds made a surprise appearance in a grey Deadpool costume, injecting humor into the event.
Marvel Studios aims to revitalize its brand with these exciting announcements, amidst some criticisms of recent projects. Despite a potential decline in superhero film interest, upcoming releases like “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” are generating significant buzz, hinting at continued success for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
