Alanis Morissette Sues Ex-Manager for Extortion

Alanis Morissette has taken legal action against her former tour manager, accusing her of engaging in a scheme of extortion to coerce Morissette into signing a lengthy contract under the threat of framing her for drug trafficking. Morissette’s lawsuit, filed in California and obtained by CBC News, alleges that Keren Urinov demanded a 15-year employment contract and substantial compensation in exchange for not reporting Morissette to British authorities for drug trafficking.

Urinov, who previously worked for Live Nation in Israel, was hired as a temporary tour manager for Morissette’s world tour in 2025. An incident occurred in July 2025 when British authorities detained Urinov at an airport after discovering marijuana and xylazine in her bag. Urinov reportedly admitted ownership of the drugs but was released after presenting her Israeli medical marijuana license.

Following the tour, Urinov allegedly sent a series of threatening letters to Morissette, demanding a long-term contract with generous compensation and work visa assistance. Morissette claims that Urinov’s mismanagement of the tour, including costly errors and undisclosed criminal history, led her to pursue legal action against Urinov for civil extortion, fraud, and negligent misrepresentation.

Morissette asserts that she was left with no choice but to sue Urinov to expose her scheme and resist being coerced into an unfair agreement. The lawsuit highlights Morissette’s refusal to collaborate with an incompetent blackmailer and her decision to seek justice through a trial by jury. As of now, there has been no response from Urinov or Morissette’s representatives regarding the legal proceedings.
