“Gruesome Meat Cleaver Murders Shock Amityville”

An atrocious couple used meat cleavers to kill and dismember their housemates in a gruesome assault. Jeffrey Mackey, Alexis Nieves, and their partner Steven Brown were convicted and imprisoned for the fatal 2024 incident involving Malcom Brown, 53, and his spouse, Donna Conneely, 59. According to the police, the victims were brutally stabbed upon entering their residence on February 27, 2024. Prosecutors alleged that Nieves struck Conneely’s head with a meat tenderizer before stabbing her in Amityville, New York. Mackey proceeded to stab Malcolm in the neck and torso. The heinous act was uncovered when a student discovered a severed left arm in a park just two days later.

Law enforcement found additional human remains at various locations on March 5, 2024, leading to the identification of Malcolm and Donna as the victims. Upon visiting the home where the couple resided with the victims, authorities discovered two meat cleavers, a large kitchen knife, and traces of blood in multiple areas.

Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney stated that the defendants dismembered the victims’ bodies in the home’s bathroom. Steven and Wallace assisted in cutting up the bodies and disposing of them, as per a police statement.

Mackey, aged 40, Nieves, aged 35, and Brown, Malcolm’s cousin, pleaded guilty to the charges in April 2024. Mackey and Nieves received reduced sentences under a plea agreement, citing abuse from the victims as a motivating factor for their crimes.

During the trial, Mackey expressed remorse, stating, “I truly regret the events that unfolded. I wish they were still alive. I regret ever meeting them. I apologize to their families, as I wish this never happened.”

Mackey was sentenced to 22 years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of second-degree murder. Nieves received an 11-year prison term for a misdemeanor, while Brown was handed a five-year sentence for conspiracy. Wallace pleaded guilty to concealing a human corpse and received a sentence of up to two years behind bars in November.

Despite the sentencing, Malcolm’s family criticized the leniency, referring to it as a “slap on the wrist.” They voiced their dissatisfaction with the five-year sentence given to Steven Brown, considering the severity of the crime involving the dismemberment and disposal of body parts.
