Samsung TV owners in the UK are in for a significant upgrade as UKTV has announced that its popular free-to-air linear channels will soon be available on Samsung screens. This new feature will allow UK viewers to access a variety of bonus content without the need for additional devices.
The channels will be streamed over the internet, eliminating the requirement for a traditional aerial setup. Samsung will also introduce a dedicated section on its home screen that showcases content from the U streaming service, making it easier for users to discover and watch classic comedies, dramas, and factual shows without navigating through menus.
In the upcoming months, channels such as U&DRAMA, U&Dave, U&Yesterday, U&W, and U&Eden will be accessible through a direct link from Samsung’s Universal Guide to the U app. The rollout is expected to reach millions of Samsung TVs, with the channels featured in the platform’s ‘Live’ tab and Universal Guide, ensuring easy access to UKTV’s live and on-demand content for viewers relying on internet-based TV.
Jonathan Newman, General Manager of Commercial at UKTV, expressed excitement about the strengthened partnership with Samsung, emphasizing the enhanced accessibility of the U app for Samsung customers. Dan Harvie, Vice President of Home Entertainment and Appliances at Samsung UK and Ireland, highlighted the value of UKTV’s content in enriching the entertainment options on Samsung TVs.
While a specific launch date has not been disclosed, these new features are anticipated to become available on Samsung TVs soon, enhancing the viewing experience for users.
