“Bulgaria Tops List for Budget-Friendly Summer Vacations”

Bulgaria has been identified as the top destination for a budget-friendly summer vacation this year, according to recommendations for families. TravelSupermarket shared data indicating the most cost-effective countries for individuals planning a sun-soaked all-inclusive holiday in 2026. Bulgaria secured the leading position with an average cost of £760 per person for a week-long stay, followed by Morocco at an average of £852 per person for a seven-night trip, and Malta at £862.

The analysis was based on family holiday searches conducted between October 5 last year and the previous week, with travel dates between May and September 2026. Significant price variations were observed among popular destinations.

Among 13 popular locations, the average cost for a week in Bulgaria decreased by £54 per person, equivalent to a 7% reduction, compared to last summer. In contrast, Cyprus emerged as the most expensive option, priced at £1,186 per person.

Spain, a favored destination among Brits, encompassing the Balearic and Canary Islands, ranked fourth this year at £888 per person, with prices remaining stable compared to 2025. Turkey occupied the 11th spot, costing an average of £1,057, while Greece followed in 12th place at £1,096.

Croatia was ranked as the 10th most affordable destination for this summer, with an average cost of £1,046 per person. However, the typical expenses for a trip to Croatia dropped by 12% since the previous year, making it £136 cheaper this summer.

For long-haul travelers seeking value, TravelSupermarket highlighted Cape Verde as the most cost-effective option at £1,247 per person, followed by the United Arab Emirates at £1,297, the Dominican Republic at £1,664, and Mexico at £1,694.

Chris Webber, head of holidays and deals at TravelSupermarket, commented, “Bulgaria seems poised to regain its status as the go-to affordable all-inclusive destination. Despite price increases, Tunisia and Morocco continue to rank among the top five cheapest countries, offering excellent value for families. Croatia, previously perceived as a pricey location, especially after adopting the Euro in January 2023, is now more accessible with a 12% decrease in prices, welcoming families who may have felt deterred by the costs of this beautiful destination.”
