In his documentary “Everyone Is Lying to You for Money,” McKenzie explores how a few insiders make significant profits while most regular investors end up losing money in the crypto industry.
Initially drawn to cryptocurrency by a friend’s suggestion without a clear understanding of its workings, McKenzie, with an economics background, delved deeper and was struck by the lack of substance in the industry. He testified in a U.S. Senate committee hearing on cryptocurrency in 2022 and co-authored a book titled “Easy Money: Cryptocurrency, Casino Capitalism, and the Golden Age of Fraud.”
While some industry figures have criticized McKenzie’s documentary for sensationalizing negative narratives about cryptocurrency, he advocates for stricter regulations to safeguard investors.
