Alaska Highway Reopens After Collision

The Alaska Highway in Whitehorse has reopened completely following a collision involving two vehicles on Tuesday afternoon. Limited details have been provided by officials regarding the condition of the individuals involved, the reason for the accident, and whether any investigations are in progress. Calista MacLeod from Yukon RCMP communications mentioned that an update will be provided soon.

The incident occurred near the Cousins airstrip, just south of the intersection with the North Klondike Highway, prompting the RCMP to shut down the highway around 3 p.m. on Tuesday. The road partially reopened to one lane over an hour later. Emergency medical services, the fire department, and the Whitehorse RCMP all responded to the crash scene, as confirmed by MacLeod.

Yukon Protective Services issued an update after 10 p.m. on Tuesday, announcing that the highway has been cleared, and traffic is now moving smoothly.
