“Dolly Parton’s Life Story Hits Broadway!”

Dolly Parton, the iconic country singer, is set to have her life story portrayed in a new musical heading to Broadway later this year. Titled “Dolly: A True Original Musical,” the production will showcase Parton’s journey through her own words and the music that has influenced her life.

Parton, now 80 years old, emphasized in a video announcement that the musical will reflect the true essence of her life, focusing on her roots, experiences, losses, loves, and personal growth. The show will feature a mix of new songs created for the musical and some of Parton’s well-known hits like “I Will Always Love You,” “Jolene,” “Coat of Many Colors,” and “9 to 5.”

Scheduled to kick off on December 7 in New York City, the performances are slated to run until November 21, 2027. Parton expressed her excitement, calling this opportunity a lifelong dream come true. With a career spanning nearly seven decades, she has penned over 3,000 songs, sold over 100 million albums globally, and holds esteemed positions in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and the Country Music Hall of Fame.

The musical initially premiered in Nashville last summer, receiving overwhelming support and selling out during its six-week run at the Fisher Center for the Performing Arts. Director Bartlett Sher noted the profound impact Parton has had on audiences, with many sharing how she has inspired and brought joy into their lives.

This Broadway production aims to unveil a side of Parton never seen before, going beyond the glitz and glamour to showcase the depth of her personal narrative. Tickets for the show will be available to the public starting Friday, July 10.
