Over the weekend, airstrikes by Israel resulted in the deaths of at least 11 individuals in southern Lebanon, as reported by the nation’s health ministry. This incident marked the deadliest assault since a fragile ceasefire agreement was established in June to cease hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah, despite ongoing attacks.
In addition to the aerial bombings and drone strikes, local residents and emergency responders in the area have accused Israeli military forces of deliberately igniting wildfires that have been devastating homes, forests, and olive groves in the conflict-ridden region.
These events have instilled fear among the local population regarding their ability to remain in the area and raised concerns about the prospects for the hundreds of thousands who have been displaced by the conflict to ever return to their homes.
