A deadly missile strike by Russian forces claimed the lives of 10 individuals in a village within Ukraine’s Kharkiv region, according to Ukrainian officials. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack, emphasizing that it targeted a bustling area with critical facilities among residential structures. Images shared by Zelenskyy depicted the aftermath of the strike, showing destroyed buildings, burning vehicles, and emergency personnel aiding injured individuals.
The Ukrainian President vowed a retaliatory response to the Russian assault, noting that 17 people sustained injuries in the incident, as reported by Oleh Syniehubov, the governor of the affected region. The attack inflicted damage on private residences, a café, a post office, a store, and multiple vehicles in the village.
Notably, Russia has not issued a public statement regarding the assault. Ukraine’s Prosecutor General’s Office indicated that Russia utilized two Banderol cruise missiles in the attack, based on initial findings. A local official revealed that the strike primarily targeted the village’s central area, home to the café, post office, and shops.
In a significant development, Ukraine launched a large-scale drone offensive on Moscow and its surroundings, deploying 620 drones in the early hours of Tuesday. Moscow’s Mayor Sergei Sobyanin reported that Russian forces downed 180 drones over the region, with emergency services responding to crash sites. The drones targeted various facilities, including a warehouse belonging to a Russian e-commerce company, resulting in injuries, including a 10-year-old girl.
Furthermore, regions under Russian control, such as Crimea, experienced heavy drone attacks from Ukraine, disrupting power supplies in several areas. The situation escalated as Russia warned Britain of repercussions for supplying drones to Ukraine for cross-border strikes. Despite the Russian embassy’s warnings, Britain affirmed its support for Ukraine by providing necessary equipment and aid amid the ongoing conflict.
The UK Defense Ministry’s commitment to supplying drones to Ukraine aligns with its stance in solidarity with the country against Russia’s aggression. The funding package allocated for drone provisions underscores the international support for Ukraine’s defense efforts.
