“Turkish Airlines Flight Escorted by Military Jets Amid Potential Threat”

Military fighter jets were dispatched to accompany a Turkish Airlines aircraft following concerns raised by the pilot regarding a potential threat onboard. The flight, TK1853, originating from Istanbul, landed at Barcelona-El Prat Airport with the suspicion of a hazardous item. The Airbus A321 plane carried 148 passengers and seven crew members.

Reports from Catalan news sources indicated that the Turkish Airlines flight was escorted by military planes after a threat was identified over the Mediterranean Sea in Italian airspace. Spanish and French armed forces were part of the operation, guiding the flight to land safely in Barcelona. The aircraft landed on runway two after making multiple circles and was then moved to a secure area.

Law enforcement officers from the Civil Guard boarded the plane while emergency services were deployed to the scene. All luggage is undergoing inspection, with no explosives found thus far. Operations at El Prat Airport remain uninterrupted, although a general alert has been activated. Airport security experts suggest that the situation is likely a false alarm based on current information.

Passengers have been relocated to a designated area within the airport, and efforts are underway to inform their families about the situation.
