A man allowed his daughter to die from starvation while leaving boxes of food untouched outside her room. Police found the girl’s body abandoned in a small crib, revealing signs of neglect leading to her tragic demise.
Robert S. Buskey, Jr., aged 35, admitted guilt to second-degree murder in the case of Charlotte Buskey, who suffered in what authorities described as a harrowing living environment.
Despite the presence of food boxes near her room, Charlotte, only five years old, endured months of neglect and malnourishment. Another child, a three-year-old boy, was discovered locked in a cage but alive in the same house.
The father isolated his children from society and medical care, opting to indulge in drugs and video games to avoid responsibility for his parental duties. Tragically, he neglected their well-being, resulting in the untimely death of one child.
Both children tested positive for cocaine, highlighting the dire circumstances they endured under their father’s care.
Upon responding to a distress call on Elmer Avenue, New York, on April 14, 2024, authorities encountered a distressing scene in Buskey’s residence. Inside, they found the young boy confined in a cage and Charlotte’s emaciated body, indicating severe neglect.
Buskey later confessed to an officer, acknowledging his role in his daughter’s death by depriving her of essential care and leaving her to perish in deplorable conditions.
Following his admission of guilt, Buskey recognized his indifference to human life and the grave risk he imposed on his daughter, resulting in her tragic demise.
Aside from the murder charge, Buskey also pleaded guilty to distributing a controlled substance to a child. He faces a sentencing range of 27 years to life imprisonment, scheduled for March 27.
