The police watchdog in the province is probing a single-vehicle collision in Wellington County that occurred on Sunday. Wellington County OPP informed the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) about the incident, which transpired following an unsuccessful attempt to pull over the vehicle in Guelph/Eramosa Township shortly past midnight. Subsequently, the same vehicle was involved in a solo crash, with five occupants on board. All individuals were transported to the hospital, with three sustaining injuries.
A message shared on the social media platform X by the OPP just before 3 a.m. on Sunday indicated the closure of Sideroad 10 between Wellington Road 27 and Sixth Line due to the crash. The road closure lasted for several hours before being reopened by provincial police at 8:23 p.m. The SIU has initiated a formal investigation into the matter.
