“Search Intensifies for Missing Man in Sudbury Lake”

Sudbury authorities are currently on the lookout for a 26-year-old man following an incident where his canoe overturned in Crowley Lake, situated within the city’s boundaries. According to a recent press statement from the Greater Sudbury Police Service, emergency personnel including firefighters, paramedics, and police officers were mobilized to the lake on Thursday afternoon, shortly after 3:45 p.m.

Upon arrival, first responders were informed that a group of three individuals were in a canoe on the lake when it overturned. Two individuals were successfully rescued by nearby kayakers and brought to safety, while the third person, a 26-year-old man, has yet to be located.

Although the capsized canoe was discovered by authorities, efforts are ongoing to locate the missing man. The search operation involves ground searches conducted by officers alongside the K-9 unit, as well as aerial searches utilizing a drone and an Ontario Provincial Police helicopter.

Local residents in the vicinity should anticipate an increased police presence as the search for the missing individual continues.
