A tragic incident occurred in Ajax on Tuesday, resulting in the death of a 28-year-old pedestrian following a collision, according to Durham police. The authorities were called to the scene near Salem Road and Chambers Drive at approximately 8:40 p.m. after a truck driven by a 60-year-old individual struck a man on rollerblades. The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the site.
Reportedly, the truck had just come off the westbound Highway 401 off-ramp at Salem Road and was making a right turn when the accident happened. The driver of the 2027 Freightliner truck stayed at the location and is cooperating with the police investigation.
Law enforcement officials are encouraging anyone who witnessed the crash to come forward and provide information to the police or Crime Stoppers for further assistance.
