McDonald’s enthusiasts express disappointment as the fast-food giant announces alterations to its loyalty program. Soon, MyMcDonald’s Rewards will require more points for redeeming free food items. Currently, 5,500 points are needed for favorites like the Big Mac, Double Fillet of Fish, Double Sausage and Egg McMuffin, and Nine Chicken Nuggets.
Starting March 17, customers will have to accumulate 6,500 points to exchange for these menu items. Every £1 spent at McDonald’s earns 100 points. Presently, 1,500 points are required for a Medium Coffee or Small Fries, but this will increase to 2,000 points.
The threshold for items like a regular McFlurry or an Apple Pie will climb from 2,500 points to 3,500 points. Additionally, to acquire a Double Cheeseburger or a McChicken sandwich, customers will need 5,000 points, up from 4,000 points.
Responding to concerns, a McDonald’s spokesperson cited the adjustments as a response to escalating food and supply costs. The changes aim to balance the impact of rising expenses by offering new redemption options like Chicken Selects, Cheese sides, and a new Sausage Sandwich.
In recent news, McDonald’s introduced its latest menu featuring the Surf N’ Turf burger, a unique combination of two beef patties, a crispy white fish fillet patty, cheese, onions, pickles, mustard, and ketchup. Additionally, the new Chicken Cheeseburger, Espresso Milkshake, and Chilli Cheese Bites have been added to the menu for customers to enjoy.
