Nicola Golen’s goal in extra time secured a 2-2 draw for Ottawa Rapid against AFC Toronto at TD Place on Sunday. The league-leading Rapid earned an additional point with Golen’s equalizer in the 92nd minute. Melanie Forbes also contributed a goal for Ottawa (10-2-3) in the 13th minute. On the other hand, Sarah Stratigakis and Shelina Zadorsky found the net for third-place Toronto (7-4-4).
The game took a turn in the 63rd minute when both teams had a player sent off – Choo Hyojoo for Rapid and Cloey Uddenberg for AFC Toronto, leaving them with 10 players each. Additionally, Ottawa’s TD Place was selected as the host venue for the Northern Super League final on Nov. 14.
