“ICE Agent’s ‘Boo Hoo’ Response Sparks Outrage”

An ICE agent allegedly made a dismissive remark, saying “boo hoo,” following the fatal shooting of a man in the presence of shocked protesters. The victim, identified as Alex Jeffrey Pretti, a 37-year-old intensive care nurse, was reportedly restrained by federal agents before one of them shot him numerous times. The incident occurred amid widespread protests in Minneapolis against the harsh immigration enforcement actions, which led to a city-wide strike with numerous businesses shutting down.

During the demonstration where Pretti was killed, protesters confronted officers in response to the shooting, with one ICE officer reportedly responding callously to the emotional crowd. Subsequently, tensions escalated as agents dealt with protesters, including shoving one demonstrator into a vehicle and employing forceful tactics like deploying flash bangs and using batons.

In the aftermath, a large gathering convened at the site of the tragic incident, demanding justice for Pretti and honoring other victims, including Renee Good, who was fatally shot by an ICE agent. Border Patrol commander Grey Bovino claimed that Pretti had approached federal agents armed with a handgun, leading to a confrontation captured in footage showing the nurse engaging with an ICE agent before being subdued and shot multiple times.

Videos of the chaotic scene depicted protesters reacting in horror to the shooting, criticizing the lack of immediate assistance provided to the victim by ICE agents. The Department of Homeland Security released a photo of a firearm purportedly belonging to Pretti, while Bovino asserted that the deceased had ammunition but no identification, suggesting a potentially dangerous situation without providing concrete evidence.

Pretti’s grieving family condemned the government’s portrayal of their son, labeling the accusations as false and malicious. They emphasized that the victim, described as a compassionate individual, was not armed during the encounter and was attempting to protect another person while being subjected to aggressive actions by ICE authorities.
