Highway 6 Closed in Flamborough After Truck Collision

A segment of Highway 6 in Flamborough, Hamilton, is shut down following a collision involving a commercial vehicle, as confirmed by authorities. The closure spans from Freelton Road to Concession 11 E. within the Freelton area, according to an update shared by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on social media.

Reportedly, around 3:30 a.m., a tractor trailer transporting steel crashed into a construction barrier, veering across all lanes before impacting the opposite barrier. This incident led to a diesel spill into a nearby ditch, necessitating a complete road closure. The collision occurred within a construction zone where certain lanes had already been closed for maintenance purposes, as indicated by police statements.

As of 4:44 a.m. on Monday, OPP advised the public to anticipate an extended closure while investigations and cleanup efforts are underway. Commuters are urged to seek alternative routes to avoid delays. The road closure is projected to persist until 7 p.m., with authorities mentioning the need for concrete barrier repair and replacement as the reason for the prolonged shutdown.

No injuries were reported in the incident, although potential charges are pending, according to OPP. In light of the collision, authorities emphasized the importance of reducing speed and staying vigilant while passing through construction zones.
