Nunavut RCMP have disclosed that a previous executive of the Arctic Bay Hunters and Trappers Association is under suspicion for embezzling funds from the organization amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars. The individual is facing allegations of fraud exceeding $5,000, manipulation of financial records, and breach of trust.
According to an announcement by the RCMP on Friday, authorities were alerted in 2024 regarding irregular financial activities linked to the Ikajutit Hunters and Trappers Association in Arctic Bay. Subsequent investigations exposed unauthorized transactions totaling over $230,000 spanning from 2022 to 2024.
The former executive is scheduled to appear in court in Arctic Bay on October 5 to address the charges.
