“Canada Shines with Three More Medals at ICF Canoe Championships”

Canada has strengthened its medal count at the 2026 ICF Canoe Sprint & Paracanoe World Championships in PoznaƄ by adding three more medals. Sophia Jensen and Brianna Hennessy both secured their second medals of the tournament, with the women’s C4 crew also clinching a bronze medal.

Jensen earned a silver medal in the women’s C1 200m event, marking her second podium finish after previously winning gold. She completed the race in 44.90 seconds, finishing just 0.50 seconds behind Liudmyla Luzan of Ukraine, who claimed the gold in 44.40 seconds. The bronze medal went to Nevin Harrison of the United States with a time of 45.04 seconds.

Hennessy made a triumphant return to the podium by winning silver in the women’s VL2 200m race, crossing the finish line in 1:00.82. Emma Wiggs of Great Britain secured the gold in 58.76 seconds, while Anastasia Miasnikova from another country took bronze in 1:02.31. With this achievement, the Canadian paracanoe athlete now boasts two medals from two races in PoznaƄ.

The Canadian women’s C4 crew, consisting of Katie Vincent, Zoe Wojtyk, Sloan MacKenzie, and Elizabeth Desrosiers-McArthur, added another medal to Canada’s collection by securing a bronze in the C4 500m event with a time of 1:48.17. The gold medal in this race was claimed by China, while Hungary settled for silver.
