“Arson Suspected in Ajax House Fire”

In Ajax, a fire that occurred early Monday morning has left one house completely destroyed and two others nearby damaged, prompting suspicions of foul play, according to police reports. The incident, located at Rossland Road W. and Church Street N., was responded to by emergency services around 5 a.m., where one house was found engulfed in flames, as confirmed by Durham Regional Police.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the blaze. Investigators believe the fire originated in one of the homes and then spread to the adjacent properties. All three houses, situated in a relatively new development, were vacant and detached. It is suspected that one of the homes was deliberately targeted.

Constable Nicholas Gluckstein from Durham Regional Police stated that evidence discovered at the scene has led authorities to suspect arson as the cause of the fire. Gluckstein emphasized that the investigation is treating the incident as suspicious, although specific details about the evidence were not disclosed.

The Ontario Office of the Fire Marshal has been notified and is collaborating with emergency crews in determining the exact cause of the fire. Police are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
