Murphy, aged 43, shared that he was only informed of his Monday fixture while returning from Nanjing, learning of the tournament’s lineup on the morning of the event.
Following his defeat, Murphy openly criticized the tournament organizers, stating, “I conduct myself as professionally as I possibly can. I try and treat the game with an incredible amount of respect.” He expressed his disappointment with the group arrangements, emphasizing the lack of communication and fairness in the scheduling process.
In contrast, players like Mark Williams, Mark Allen, and Alfie Burden, who did not participate in the recent International Championship, are scheduled to compete later in the Champion of Champions event, unlike Murphy, who played on the opening day.
