“Chatham-Kent Urges Water Conservation Amid Maintenance”

Residents and businesses in 11 Chatham-Kent communities are advised to reduce water usage over the next few days due to scheduled maintenance on a key water transmission line for the municipal water system, as announced by the municipality’s public utilities commission.

The communities included in the water conservation request until Friday are Chatham, Grande Pointe, Paint Court, Dover Centre, Mitchell’s Bay, Dresden, Tupperville, Eberts, Jeannette’s Creek, Thamesville, and Kent Bridge.

While essential household water needs such as drinking, cooking, and bathing can continue as usual, residents are asked to limit non-essential water activities. The municipality assures that the safety and quality of drinking water remain unaffected, and no disruptions in water service are anticipated.

Individuals are encouraged to delay tasks like watering lawns, washing vehicles or outdoor surfaces, refilling pools and hot tubs, and other water-intensive activities. The Ontario government advises maintaining a 72-hour emergency kit with 4 liters of bottled water per person per day.
