“Toronto Raptors to Retire Kyle Lowry’s No. 7 Jersey”

The Toronto Raptors have announced that they will retire Kyle Lowry’s jersey number, No. 7, after their game against the Philadelphia 76ers on January 10. Lowry will be honored as the second player in team history to have his jersey hanging in the rafters at Scotiabank Arena, following Vince Carter. The 40-year-old guard officially retired in July after a remarkable 20-year career in the NBA, concluding with a symbolic one-day contract with Toronto.

Expressing his anticipation for this momentous occasion, Lowry stated, “Toronto has always been home to me, and retiring as a Raptor has been a dream of mine. Seeing my No. 7 raised in that arena will hold great significance for me.” Reflecting on the camaraderie and success he shared with his teammates, the organization, the city, and the fans, Lowry emphasized the special bond that led them to the NBA championship victory in 2019. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to celebrate this milestone with his loved ones.

During his tenure of nine seasons with the Raptors, Lowry made significant contributions, playing a pivotal role in the team’s historic championship win. As a six-time All-Star, he holds franchise records for assists, steals, and three-pointers.
