“Man Hit by TransLink Bus in Surrey Dies”

A man in his 60s who was hit by a TransLink bus last month has passed away, as confirmed by the Surrey Police Service. TransLink spokesperson Jawn Jang acknowledged the incident involving one of their buses on the evening of July 11 in Surrey and directed further inquiries to the Surrey police. The police department stated that there were no new updates on the investigation.

The initial incident occurred when authorities responded to a report of a seriously injured man found at the intersection of 128 Street and 96 Avenue in Surrey. Upon arrival, officers discovered the man receiving medical attention from paramedics. A TransLink bus and its driver were also present at the scene.

The Surrey Police Service’s Collision Investigation Unit took charge of the case, leading to the closure of parts of the intersection for several hours. At the time, the cause of the collision remained unknown.

Staff Sgt. Lindsey Houghton informed CBC News that the bus was believed to have been stationary at the time of the collision, occurring near the bus stop. Houghton emphasized the need to determine the sequence of events and circumstances surrounding the incident. Factors such as speed and impairment were ruled out as causes of the collision.

This incident is not the first serious crash to happen at this intersection this year. In a previous incident in February, a 22-year-old woman lost her life after being struck by a vehicle on 128 Street.
