An RCMP officer in Alberta has been arrested and is facing four charges related to alleged intimate partner violence, according to the Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT). The officer, stationed in central Alberta, was taken into custody on Tuesday following an investigation that began in early July.
The charges against the officer include assault, uttering threats, unlawful confinement, and intimidation. ASIRT, in a departure from its usual practice, chose not to disclose the officer’s identity to safeguard the victim’s anonymity.
The accused officer has been released on an undertaking and is set to appear in court next month, ASIRT confirmed.
