“Two Charged in Calgary Electric Dirt Bike Pursuit”

Calgary police have announced that two young individuals have been charged after a pursuit involving electric dirt bikes in the Coach Hill neighborhood in the southwest district. According to a news release, authorities were alerted to three individuals engaging in reckless behavior with electric dirt bikes and doing stunts around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday. When officers tried to intervene, the riders attempted to escape. Despite efforts by the police to apprehend them, the individuals persisted in avoiding capture and continued to drive recklessly through residential areas. The Helicopter Air Watch for Community Safety (HAWCS) was deployed to assist in monitoring the riders from above. Subsequently, two of the riders were apprehended and are now facing charges for dangerous operation of a vehicle and evading the police. It was emphasized by the police that operating electric dirt bikes on public roads, sidewalks, pathways, or parks is illegal.
