“German Adventurer Found Deceased in Yukon River”

Dominic Bandorski, a German adventurer who disappeared during a solo canoe expedition in the Yukon in June, has been discovered deceased. Yukon RCMP and the coroner’s office announced via a press release on Tuesday that human remains were located on the Yukon River on August 6, approximately 23 kilometers from the confluence of the Teslin and Yukon Rivers. Following forensic identification procedures conducted on August 17, the remains were confirmed to belong to Bandorski.

The 31-year-old commenced his canoe journey from Johnsons Crossing, Yukon, on June 4, as stated by the authorities. He was officially declared missing a week later, on June 11, after a capsized canoe was spotted on the Teslin River. Adjacent to the overturned boat, camping equipment, a satellite communication device, and a life jacket were discovered.

RCMP detailed that a combination of helicopters, boats, and ATVs were deployed in the search operations. The efforts also involved a team of police service dogs, as well as search and rescue volunteers, with the public urged to assist in vigilance.

Bandorski’s family disclosed to CBC News in early July that they had relinquished hope of his survival. They expressed frustration over feeling uninformed about the search efforts, citing inconsistent information received from law enforcement and the German consulate.

Subsequently, authorities announced the cessation of active search operations for Bandorski, stating that exhaustive searches in the vicinity had yielded no trace of him.
