Montreal authorities are currently conducting an investigation following the discovery of a deceased woman and a severely injured man in an apartment during Monday afternoon. This incident marks the 16th homicide reported on the island of Montreal this year.
The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) was alerted to the situation via a 911 call around 2:25 p.m. regarding a potential injury case at an apartment located on 39th Street, near Paul-Corbeil Street in the Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension district. Upon arrival, officers encountered two individuals with significant injuries. Tragically, a 41-year-old woman was declared deceased, while a 35-year-old man was swiftly transported to the hospital due to critical injuries posing a threat to his life.
Both victims exhibited evidence of upper body injuries that appeared to be inflicted by a sharp object, as stated by the SPVM. The man, currently in critical condition, is considered a suspect in the ongoing inquiry. The exact relationship between the two individuals remains uncertain, according to the authorities.
This incident follows closely after the recent discovery of a deceased 44-year-old woman in an apartment in the Saint-Michel area just two days prior. Police revealed that both the woman and her 51-year-old romantic partner were discovered at the scene with stab wounds. The man, who also sustained stab wounds to his upper body, initially faced life-threatening conditions but was reported to be in stable health on Sunday. Authorities have indicated that charges will be pressed once his health condition improves.
