“ITV Presenter’s Harrowing Experience Amid Dubai Missile Attack”

Rishi Persad, a presenter on ITV, recently had a harrowing experience during a horse racing event in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. While on air with co-presenter Angus McNae, they witnessed a missile attack, causing concern and fear among the crew. Despite the unsettling situation, Persad managed to maintain composure and continue with their broadcasting duties.

The 52-year-old presenter, currently stranded in Dubai due to flight cancellations amid the ongoing conflict, expressed his desire to return home for his wife’s upcoming birthday and to fulfill his presenting commitments at the prestigious Cheltenham Festival next week. His family, particularly his wife and daughter, are understandably anxious about his safety given the circumstances.

Persad’s unexpected stay in Dubai began last Thursday when he flew out to cover the Super Saturday meeting at Meydan racecourse for Racing TV. He only became aware of the escalating situation after fellow presenter Megan Nicholls informed him of the conflict. Despite the concerns raised about the safety of the event, the Dubai Racing Club assured the crew that it was safe to proceed with the racing activities.

As the evening unfolded, landmarks in Dubai, including hotels and the airport, were targeted by missiles, adding to the tension in the area. However, Persad found comfort in the presence of Dubai’s ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, at the race meeting, which helped alleviate some of the anxiety among the staff.

The escalating tensions were further exacerbated by US President Donald Trump’s announcement of military operations in Iran, adding to the global unease. Persad remains hopeful of returning to the UK soon, having booked a flight for Thursday afternoon in the absence of a contingency plan.

Despite the challenging circumstances, Persad’s professionalism and dedication to his work have been commendable, with ITV being fully informed of the situation. The safety and well-being of all involved remain a top priority as they navigate through the uncertainties in the region.
