“Ukrainian President Zelenskyy to Visit Canada Next Week”

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to travel to Canada next week, as revealed by sources familiar with the matter. The anticipated visit, initially disclosed by the Globe and Mail, has been verified by two independent sources. It is reported that Zelenskyy’s itinerary in Canada may involve two separate stops.

Zelenskyy’s previous visit to Canada occurred in December, during which he met with Prime Minister Mark Carney in Halifax before proceeding to the U.S. for discussions with President Donald Trump regarding efforts to resolve the Russia-Ukraine conflict. The Prime Minister’s Office has chosen not to comment on the upcoming visit.

The announcement of Zelenskyy’s visit comes amidst statements by Russian President Vladimir Putin indicating that various nations, including the U.S. and China, are prepared to assist in reaching a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine. Putin emphasized that ultimately, the resolution of the conflict rests with the two countries directly involved — Russia and Ukraine. He expressed gratitude to those contributing towards a resolution, acknowledging the possibility of a chance for peace.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, speaking in Kyiv, expressed optimism about a renewed momentum in peace initiatives, with increased political and diplomatic engagement across global capitals. Following a 4½-year period marked by Europe’s deadliest conflict since World War II, both sides rarely exhibit optimism about peace prospects. The last mediated talks between the two sides took place in the U.S. in February.
