President Donald Trump has issued a strong caution to Iran, affirming that his administration is closely monitoring the situation and has dispatched a fleet of military vessels to the Middle East in response to ongoing protests.
During his return on Air Force One from delivering a significant address at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, the US leader emphasized the United States’ vigilance towards Iran. He disclosed the deployment of a substantial naval force in the region, stating, “We have a significant flotilla heading in that direction. We are observing the developments closely.”
The US has mobilized US F-15 Strike Eagles stationed in Jordan, alongside the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group, as part of a broader military reinforcement moving towards Iran from the South China Sea. This naval contingent is equipped with F-35 stealth fighters and destroyers.
Hinting at the possibility of potential strikes on Tehran, President Trump expressed a desire to avoid conflict, stating, “I would prefer not to see anything happen, but we are monitoring them carefully.” He further claimed personal responsibility for influencing Tehran’s decision to halt the execution of 800 protesters.
Trump criticized Iran’s actions as archaic, stating, “Their tactics are from a thousand years ago. This is an ancient culture.” He warned Iran of severe consequences if the executions had proceeded, asserting that the reprisal would surpass the impact of the US withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal.
The escalating tensions in the Persian Gulf have prompted the US to deploy numerous military assets in the region. In an interview with CNBC, Trump alluded to the potential for further actions, expressing concerns over the violent suppression of protests in Iran. Additionally, he revealed the authorization of 25 additional B-2 bombers for potential future missions.
The recent military maneuvers follow Trump’s previous directive to bomb Iranian nuclear sites using B-2 bombers, resulting in significant damage to Iran’s program. Intelligence assessments confirmed the successful targeting of the sites, with each bomb effectively hitting its mark.
