The daughter of famous actors Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes has officially removed her father’s surname. Public records obtained by CBC News reveal that she goes by Suri Noelle on her voter registration in Pennsylvania. Suri, aged 20, resides in Pittsburgh and is currently enrolled at Carnegie Mellon University.
The decision to adopt the surname Noelle appears to be a nod to her mother, the well-known actress Katie Noelle Holmes from “Dawson’s Creek.” According to TMZ, Suri has been estranged from her father, Tom Cruise of “Mission Impossible” fame, since she was seven years old.
Following the couple’s divorce settlement in 2012, media coverage largely portrayed Holmes in a favorable light, depicting her as breaking free from a marriage influenced by the Church of Scientology. Despite initially committing to co-parenting, Holmes has predominantly raised their daughter in New York City.
The precise timing of the name change remains uncertain. However, records show that Noelle, then 18 years old, was identified as Suri Noelle during her high school graduation in 2024, as reported by Page Six. Suri Noelle now joins a group of children of celebrity parents who have distanced themselves from their fathers post-divorce.
Notably, five of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s children have either legally or publicly removed Pitt from their last names. In a similar vein, People magazine recently disclosed that the 20-year-old son of Britney Spears and Kevin Federline altered his Instagram handle from Sean Preston Federline to Sean P. Spears.
