Brandon Flowers recently revealed that The Killers are working on new music. However, fans will have to wait longer than anticipated for the upcoming album. The band’s last release was in 2021 with their seventh album, “Pressure Measure,” which topped the UK charts. Following their UK performances in August and September 2023, the group has set a timeline for their next collective project.
Frontman Brandon Flowers expressed that the forthcoming album will be their finest yet. He mentioned that before reuniting with band members Dave Keuning, Ronnie Vannucci Jr, and Mark Stoermer to release new music, he intends to concentrate on his two upcoming solo albums. Flowers projected that fans might expect the new Killers record in 2027, emphasizing his current focus on completing his solo projects.
In a recent interview with The Sun, Flowers disclosed that he has already finished one solo album and is in the final stages of mixing another. He shared his dilemma in managing the release schedules of his solo work and the band’s next album.
Reflecting on the band’s recent activities, Flowers highlighted their extensive touring for “Imploding The Mirage” in 2022 and subsequent gigs in 2023. Additionally, The Killers marked the 20th anniversary of their debut album, “Hot Fuss,” in 2024 with a residency at Caesar’s Palace and the release of their greatest hits album, “Rebel Diamonds.” Despite these milestones, the group has sporadically worked on new material.
Discussing the band’s musical direction, Flowers indicated a return to their rock ‘n’ roll roots after veering away from a synth-pop sound. He explained the band’s decision to shift back to rock ‘n’ roll, citing a desire for a more authentic and gratifying creative process.
In a recent charitable event organized by Dawes to support victims of the Eaton Fire, Brandon Flowers joined the lineup to perform The Killers’ hit “When You Were Young” and Bruce Springsteen’s “The Promised Land.” The event aimed to aid in the long-term recovery and relief efforts for those affected by the fire.
