Residents near Parkway Road and Cedar Lane in south Ottawa were instructed to evacuate their homes temporarily following a propane truck accident and subsequent leak on Tuesday night. Ottawa police were alerted to the incident in Greely just prior to 7 p.m. Fortunately, there were no injuries reported by paramedics. Emergency responders urged individuals within an 800-meter radius to evacuate as they worked to control the leak, affecting over 60 residences. By 3:20 a.m. on Wednesday, the evacuation zone was reduced to a 300-meter radius, with firefighters indicating that they had successfully managed the leak and repositioned the truck. The Ottawa police later confirmed on Wednesday morning that the truck had been removed, allowing residents to return home. Evacuated locals were accommodated at the Greely Community Centre on Meadow Drive, approximately two kilometers away, which served as a temporary shelter during the incident.
