“Ottawa Police Probing Woman’s Death as Femicide”

Ottawa police are investigating the death of a woman found in a Lowertown residence on Saturday as a femicide. The body of Kesi Fevrier, 27, was discovered by police following a request for assistance from Sûreté du Québec regarding a fatal motor vehicle collision earlier that day.

In the early hours, Kingsley Nwude, 34, lost control of his vehicle on Highway 50 near Papineauville, Que., crashing into a guardrail and concrete wall. Nwude later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. Quebec provincial police deemed Nwude’s injuries suspicious and sought Ottawa police’s aid in their inquiry.

Ottawa police located Fevrier’s body at a Guigues Avenue residence around 11 a.m. Both individuals were residents of Ottawa, though authorities have not clarified the connection between the two deaths.

The investigation is ongoing as officers gather evidence and interview potential witnesses. Ottawa police assured the public that there is no imminent threat to safety.

Residents of Lowertown expressed shock at the tragic events. Laura Hashimoto, a local resident, recounted the moment she returned home to a scene filled with police vehicles and flashing lights, unaware of the unfolding events. Neighbour Susan Spronk described the neighborhood as close-knit and emphasized the importance of mutual vigilance and support in the wake of such incidents.
