Cabinet ministers, including Keir Starmer, criticized Trump’s actions as “completely wrong.” In a joint statement, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and the UK expressed solidarity with Denmark and Greenland, emphasizing their commitment to Arctic security and sovereignty.
The UK’s Culture Secretary, Lisa Nandy, affirmed the UK’s stance on Greenland as non-negotiable despite Trump’s threats. Nandy emphasized the importance of the US relationship but reiterated the UK’s position on Greenland’s future depending on the will of its people and Denmark.
French President Emmanuel Macron and Sweden’s Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson rejected Trump’s intimidation tactics. EU ambassadors have been summoned for urgent discussions on the tariff threats, highlighting the global concern over the escalating tensions.
