At the age of 14, Jill Halfpenny made her debut on Byker Grove alongside the popular duo Ant and Dec. Currently, she stars in the suspenseful series, Girl Taken, on Paramount TV+ and is reprising her role as DS Sam Bradley in the ITV mystery drama After The Flood. Additionally, she will feature alongside former soap star Sally Lindsay in the upcoming thriller Number One Fan on Channel 5.

The new series follows detective Jo Marshall, played by Sophie Rundell, balancing her career with the challenges of motherhood and a tumultuous personal life, all while uncovering corruption within the police force. The premiere episode sets the stage for a gripping narrative as Jo and DS Bradley investigate a perplexing murder on the moors.
Jill reflected on her career evolution, noting her transition from stereotypical roles to more substantial and nuanced characters. She emphasized the importance of portraying authentic female perspectives in storytelling and expressed gratitude for the increasingly diverse and complex roles available to women in recent years.
Outside of her successful career, Jill has faced personal hardships, including the sudden loss of her partner in 2017. Drawing from her experiences of grief, she penned a memoir, A Life Reimagined, to share her journey and provide solace to others navigating similar challenges. Her candid approach aims to break the silence surrounding grief and offer practical insights into navigating loss.
Currently residing in her hometown in the North East with her teenage son, Harvey, Jill has found solace in a new relationship and a sense of acceptance towards life’s uncertainties. Despite enduring profound losses, she embraces the notion of acceptance as a pathway to new beginnings and opportunities.
